Toddler Drowns in Church Baptistry

An Alabama toddler drowned in baptismal tank on Monday. Brayden King, who was two months shy of his second birthday, was found submerged in 33 inches in water in the Pentecostal House of Prayer in Decatur, according to Charisma Magazine

The coroner reports the death was accidental and the toddler fell into the baptistery while under the supervision of his sister who is in her early teens.

The Huntsville Times reports Bishop TD Strong, pastor of the Pentecostal House of Prayer, mentioned that the child’s mother for years had prayed for a son.

"Twenty-two months ago he gave her a son," Strong said, according to the newspaper. "And 22 months later he was taken away. I've been preaching 30 years and pastoring for 20 years, this is the first time in my ministry I've been speechless."

Decatur is about 75 miles north of Birmingham.
