South Carolina: 2 Students, 1 Teacher Injured in School Shooting

UPDATE: The teacher and one of the children injured in the shooting have been hospitalized and released. The other student, six-year-old Jacob Hall is still in critical condition. His parents thanked the community for their thoughts and prayers and asked for privacy during this difficult time.

Police say they are confident that they have the sole suspect in custody and that there are no links to terrorism in the case.

Before carrying out the school shooting, the 14-year-old suspect also shot and killed his father.

Two children and one teacher have been injured after a gunman fired shots at an elementary school in Townville, South Carolina.

Details are still forthcoming, but CNN.com reports that the suspected shooter, a teenager, is currently in custody.

The two children were taken to a trauma center, while the teacher was taken to a hospital. The three victims do not appear to have life-threatening injuries, according to Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore.

A local mother of a student who attends Townville Elementary School stated, "Her teacher was shaken up. I know all the kids were scared. There was a bunch of kids crying," the unidentified woman said. "She didn't talk for about five minutes when I got her. ... I'm just so scared. I don't even want her to go to school now."

According to FoxNews.com, police also responded to a death “believed to be related” to the school shooting which occurred about one and a half miles away from the school.

Townville is located in the western part of South Carolina. Townville Elementary has about 280 students.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is en route to Anderson County where a press conference is scheduled for five p.m.
