Saeed Abedini Supporters Launch Postcard Initiative to Urge White House to Negotiate His Release

Supporters of imprisoned Iranian-American pastor Saeed Abedini are asking people to buy and send postcards to President Barack Obama to demand Abedini’s release.

The prepared message to Obama on the postcards reads: "A man in your position has been given great power and responsibility to represent every American, whether on domestic or foreign soil. Please hold to your own words, that no one is left behind. We, the American people, ask you to do everything within your power to bring U.S. citizen, pastor, husband & father, Saeed Abedini, home to his family from his time of incarceration in Iran."

Abedini has been imprisoned in Iran for more than two years as part of an eight year sentence. There have been many campaigns and petitions demanding for his release, but on Nov. 24, the president is expected to meet with Iranian officials to discuss a nuclear deal.

The postcards can be bought for $26.50 for a bundle of 100. Campaign organizers say at least 80,000 postcards have been ordered.

Earlier this month, Abedini’s mother in Iran was forced to flee the country.

We look forward to seeing her soon here in the United States. It has been a difficult time for all of us — including Saeed's mom," Abedini’s wife, Naghmeh Abedin, said. "She did not want to leave Iran. She did not want to say goodbye to her son."
