Rick Warren Scheduled to Deliver Mars Hill's Last Sermon as Mark Driscoll Launches New Website

The Mars Hill organization will dissolve at midnight New Year’s Eve and Rick Warren is scheduled to deliver the church’s last Sunday sermon. The sermon will be shown through a video stream.

The church’s website said, “Each of our churches will be showing a special message from Pastor Rick, based on John 12:24. 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.'

"Our hope is that this timely message will be an encouragement for the people that have called Mars Hill Church their home, as we reflect on the great impact our church has had on the kingdom of God, as well as an encouragement for the new churches emerging out of Mars Hill, and the potential they have to continue bearing much fruit."

Rick Warren has acted as a mentor for Mark Driscoll after the Mars Hill megapastor had a fall from grace in the evangelical community relating to plagiarism and misuse of church funds.

At the same time, Driscoll has launched a new website, MarkDriscoll.org. Christian Today reports the website includes scripture reflections and blog posts that Driscoll composed in the past.

A welcome message on the site says, “"This website was built in response to requests from people wanting access to Pastor Mark Driscoll's past and future Bible teaching.”

It continued, "Our prayer is that these resources will help non-Christians meet Jesus and help Christians become more like Jesus - because as Pastor Mark says, 'It's all about Jesus!'”
