Pro-Life Teen Criticizes Teen Magazine for Treating Abortion as ‘No Big Deal’

A 16-year-old pro-life woman recently responded to an article published in the magazine Teen Vogue that suggests lighthearted gifts to buy for a friend who has undergone an abortion.

In a video posted by Students for Life on YouTube, a young woman, identified only as Autumn, confronted Teen Vogue for its nonchalant treatment of the issue of abortion.

The Teen Vogue article is titled “What to Get a Friend Post-Abortion,” and suggests gifts such as a funny movie, new underwear, or a “GRL PWR” hat.

"Teen Vogue, you should be held accountable for this disgusting and disrespectful article," Autumn says in the video. "You trivialize an issue that leaves millions of women struggling every day. Such a blasé approach hurts women who regret their abortions. It minimises their pain."

Autumn goes on to detail each gift item mentioned in the article and explain how these gifts are not appropriate for a young woman who has just undergone such a traumatic experience.

Instead, Autumn encourages women who have had abortions to seek counseling and the help offered for post-abortion depression by pregnancy centers. She also encourages friends and family to pray for these women and to take their pain seriously, according to Christian Today.

Students for Life is a pro-life organization that equips young people to be pro-life advocates.
