Pastor to Debate Porn Star in New York

Fiercely anti-pornography pastor Craig Gross is set to face off in a debate against porn star Ron Jeremy in New York later this month.

ChristianToday.com reports that Pastor Gross, from XXXChurch, has debated the 63-year-old Jeremy previously.

Their current debate is being advertised as “The Great Porn Debate,” and will take place on September 27 in Schenectady, New York.

Jeremy, who has acted in over 2,000 porn films and directed over 285, argues that pornography represents a way for poor women to make money they couldn’t otherwise make.

"These are girls who do not have the money to go to college. Some of them worked in McDonald's. They chose to do porn and become millionaires in five or six years," Jeremy said in a debate in 2013. "I'm not saying that it's automatically empowering, but one of the ways they measure success in a capitalist system of America is money. It doesn't buy you everything, but the fact is, you make $13 million bucks, you're set for life."

Gross staunchly disagrees.

"What you're looking at on a screen is never going to happen, or should happen, in your sex life,” he said. “It creates unrealistic expectations for what your sex life is going to look like. This is dangerous."

Recent research has also revealed that one-third of 10-year-old children access porn on the internet.

A number of organizations have even declared the pornography epidemic a public health crisis.

The Republican Party platform even included a statement about the dangers of porn:

"Pornography, with its harmful effects, especially on children, has become a public health crisis that is destroying the life of millions. We encourage states to continue to fight this public menace and pledge our commitment to children's safety and well-being. We applaud the social networking sites that bar sex offenders from participation. We urge energetic prosecution of child pornography which closely linked to human trafficking."
