Pastor Drops Dead in Church After Confessing Infidelity

A pastor in Connecticut died of a heart attack Sunday after confessing that he had an affair.

Bishop Bobby Davis of the Miracle Faith World Outreach Church in Bridgeport, Conn. died after he asked the congregation to stay after the Sunday service so he could confess his infidelity. He then collapsed.

"We were shouting, 'We forgive you, we love you,' but the stress of all of it—he had a heart attack," one parishioner tells the Connecticut Post.

There are also some reports that some members of the congregation responded to the confession with anger.

Some sources have reported that Davis confessed to the congregation when his wife forced him to. Other sources say he confessed willingly.

“After the service on Sunday the bishop's family asked us to remain in the church,” said Judy Stovall, an elder with the church. “He wanted to come clean with all of us.

"He wanted to ask our forgiveness."

Police have said there was no criminal aspect to Davis’ death.

Davis celebrated his 50th anniversary to his wife Christine Davis last summer. He was also a marriage and family therapist.

The couple founded the church in 1967. They had six children.

Davis graduated from the Vision Christian College of Ramona California with a doctorate degree in theological studies.
