Palestinian Government Urges US to Pressure Israel

The Palestinian Authority (P.A.) government has asked the United States to intervene with Israel, after Israel announced plans for 1,500 new building offers in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem communities.

“We strongly condemn this decision, which affirms that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a liar and is not interested in the two-state solution,” said Nimr Hammad, P.A. President Mahmoud Abbas advisor.

At the same time, Israel is critical of the U.S.’s association with the P.A. government, due to its inclusion of terrorist group Hamas reports CBN News.

State Department member Jen Psaki said that the U.S. is planning to work with Israel but it is up to “the parties...to make the difficult decisions about coming to the negotiating table.”i

Secretary of State John Kerry said the P.A. government “is committed to the principles of nonviolence, negotiations, recognizing the State of Israel, acceptance of previous agreements and the Quartet [U.S., U.N., E.U. and Russia] principles.”
