The Nigerian military claims to have rescued 178 captives from terrorist group Boko Haram.
Christian Today reports Nigerian troops have been attacking Boko Haram strongholds in recent weeks; the latest raid freed 178 captives, 101 of which were children.
A Boko Haram leader was also captured by Nigerian troops.
Last week, troops freed 71 people from Boko Haram captivity. Hundreds more have be freed by Nigerian forces this year, but the 219 schoolgirls who were abducted from a school in Chibok in April 2014 remain under Boko Haram control.
Militants previously claimed that the girls had converted to Islam and were married off to Boko Haram members. Christian Headlines previously reported that other captives fear the Chibok girls, as they have been brainwashed by militants.
According to the Associated Press, the captives were freed from the northeast region of Nigeria.
