Nigeria: Boko Haram Kidnaps 60 Women and Girls, 31 Boys

Boko Haram is allegedly behind another abduction in Northeast Nigeria. The militant group kidnapped 60 women and girls, and 31 boys from villages in the area.

Though witnesses confirmed the aduction in Kummabza, the Nigerian government has denied any kidnappings took place. Damboa council secretary Modu Mustapha refused to confirm or deny the reported abduction.

The Nigerian government has been criticized for its failure to quickly respond to the kidnapping of over 200 schoolgirls in Chibok village, most of whom remain in captivity. First lady Patience Jonathan recently said that the schoolgirl abduction in April was an elaborate ruse to discredit Goodluck Jonathan in the February 2015 election.

Attacks from Boko Haram militants have been more deadly this year than the previous four. Attacks and bombings by the militant group have killed 2,000 people this year.
