Former Republican House majority leader Tom DeLay is helping to kick-start a new project for the National Prayer Center called The Josiah Project. According to DeLay, the project is so named to reflect the massive reforms that Judah experienced during the reign of King Josiah: “Josiah tore down the idols and brought God back into the nation or brought the nation to God. He was probably the most devout king of all the kings, including David…So that’s why we named it the Josiah Project. In the presence of where our nation is today.” The Blaze reports that this project will not be involved in the lobbying process, but instead will organize groups around the country to be in constant prayer for (and even prayer with) Congress members, elected representatives, and other government leaders. This will be a big step forward for the National Prayer Center, which was founded on scriptural exhortations for Christians to pray for their government officials (2 Chronicles 7:14; 1 Timothy 2:1-2).
