Missouri Pastor Steals Thousands from Church to Fund Affair

A Missouri pastor has been charged with stealing over $21,000 from his church to fund an affair. Christian Today reports Ralph Sawyer, of Lindsay Lane Missionary Baptist Church in Florissant, stole the money from the congregation to pay a 20-year-old woman for a sexual relationship.

According to Florissant Police Detective Andy Haarmann, Sawyer "said he initiated a relationship with a young lady. As a result of that relationship he withdrew the funds to help continue the relationship."

Sawyer used the church’s ATM card to take the money in 35 withdrawals.

The pastor is married with children and has been removed as pastor.

Haarmaan said, “he is devastated, just the whole incident, he's embarrassed of the incident, the shame it's brought his wife and his children. He's very remorseful."
