Katy Perry's Pastor Father Says He is Proud of Her Despite Once Calling Her a 'Devil Child'

Singer Katy Perry is set to perform the half time show of Super Bowl XLIX and the pop star’s pastor father said he is proud of his daughter.

Perry’s father, Keith Hudson told the Daily Mail Online, "I don't have a problem. She's gonna do some good ones—she's excited [about her Super Bowl performance]."

The Christian Post reports that Hudson had once called Perry a “devil child,” but now embraces his daughter’s accomplishments.

In a sermon last year, Hudson said, "They ask how can I preach if I produce a girl who sang about kissing another girl? I was at a concert of Katy's where there were 20,000. I'm watching this generation and they were going at it. It almost looked like church. I stood there and wept and kept on weeping and weeping. They're loving and worshipping the wrong thing."

Perry’s mother, Mary Hudson, who is also a pastor wrote in Charisma magazine, "Satan's assault on our youth is relentless, and they can't fight against it alone. Parents have to walk in their God-given authority—children can't be left to raise themselves."

Perry has recently said that she believes in God and prayer but does not identify as a Christian.
