James Dobson Now Says He’s Not Sure Trump Accepted Christ

After Trump met with a number of prominent evangelical leaders last week, Focus on the Family founder James Dobson, who attended the meeting, claimed that Trump had accepted Christ. Now, however, Dobson is backtracking.

 

TheResurgent.com reports that, while Dobson has not recanted his statement that Trump has accepted Christ, he has acknowledged that he is not sure that Trump did so.

 

Dobson previously stated that he knew who the person was who led Trump to Christ, but that he was not at liberty to disclose who it was. He has now revealed that that person is Paula White.

 

White is a prosperity gospel preacher who, according to The Resurgent.com, was under investigation by the IRS and was also accused of having an inappropriate relationship with fellow prosperity gospel preacher Benny Hinn.

 

A number of Christian leaders voiced their skepticism that Trump truly had made a profession of faith. Some even accused Dobson of trying to make Trump presentable to evangelical voters.

 

Russell Moore, president of the Southern Baptist Convention's’ Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, tweeted:
