Germany: Hundreds of Muslim Refugees Converting to Christianity

Hundreds of Muslim refugees who have fled to Germany are converting to Christianity.

Many Muslims, primarily in the countries of Iran and Afghanistan, are fleeing their homelands due to persecution and violence, perpetrated by the Islamic State.

Many of the Muslim refugees see Germany as a safe haven, and some have even begun attending Germain Christian churches, according to Christian Today.

Gottfried Martens, pastor of Trinity Church in Berlin, reports that he has seen his congregation grow from 150 to 600 attendees in just two years.

Although some Germans caution that the high Muslim conversion rate may be due to the fact that Muslim immigrants want to be able to remain in Germany, some conversions are genuine.

Mohammed Ali Zanoobi, a carpenter from Shiraz, Iran was introduced to the Bible at age 18. He attended secret Christian services in Iran, but when several of his Christian friends were arrested, Zanoobi decided to flee the country with his wife and two children.

The family fled to Germany where Zanoobi was baptized at Trinity Church.

"I know there are – again and again – people coming here because they have some kind of hope regarding their asylum," Pastor Martens said. "I am inviting them to join us because I know that whoever comes here will not be left unchanged."
