Franklin Graham Receives Nearly $1 Million from Ministries

The salary of well-known evangelist Franklin Graham is reaching close to $1 million.

Graham’s income comes from the two ministries he runs, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) and Samaritan’s Purse.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association says its main purpose is “to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ by every effective means and to equip others to do the same.”

The Association strives to accomplish this objective through evangelism crusades, evangelism training, youth outreach, disaster response, television broadcasts, and radio programs.

Franklin Graham took over leadership of the organization from his father. In 2009, due to the economic downtown in the U.S., Graham stopped taking a salary from BGEA, but in 2011 the ministry’s board suggested he be paid again, and the Huffington Post reports that Graham agreed.

He is now receiving $250,000 a year from his leadership of BGEA.

Samaritan’s Purse, which is behind such initiatives as Operation Christmas Child and other mission-related endeavors, is also growing under Graham’s leadership, says Graham spokesman Mark DeMoss.

Graham received over $620,000 for his work with Samaritan’s Purse this year.
