Franklin Graham Accuses Senate of Hypocrisy

Franklin Graham has accused the U.S. Senate of hypocrisy because they welcomed Pope Francis who opposes abortion, but then voted down the bill to defund Planned Parenthood.

Christian Today reports that Graham stated on his Facebook page: "The hypocrisy of our Senate never ceases to amaze me as they welcomed Pope Francis into their chambers with a standing ovation and then within hours they voted down the bill to ‪#‎defundPlannedParenthood, an organisation that not only murders innocent children in their mothers' wombs but is also guilty of selling body parts from these babies.”

Pope Francis became the first pope to address Congress on Thursday last week as part of his east coast tour of the U.S.

The Pope urged Congress to take the "responsibility to protect and defend human life at every stage of its development."

Graham wholeheartedly agrees. He had urged the Senate to pass the bill and issued a warning to President Obama should he choose to veto it.

"As a nation we need to call abortion what it is—murder; and we need lawmakers and leaders who are brave enough to stand and fight for human life," Graham said.

Christian Today reports that Graham extended a warm welcome to Pope Francis when he arrived in the U.S., agreeing with the Pope’s statement that God forgives sins, even the sin of abortion.

"The Bible says, 'If we confess our sins, He (God) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness' (1 John 1:9),” Graham quoted. “As a sinner, I'm glad we can go directly to God for forgiveness 24/7, on any day, in any year. He sent His Son Jesus Christ to pay the price for sin with His shed blood on the Cross of Calvary."
