Family Sends Seven Homeschooled Children to College by Age 12

A family has gained national attention for sending seven of 10 children to college by the age of 12. The three youngest children seem to be headed in the same direction as their older siblings.

The Harding children are commonly known as “The Brainy Bunch.” They range in age from 4 to 26, and have all taken different career paths. Parents Kip and Mona Lisa Harding have now penned a book explaining how other parents homeschool in the same way.

“We didn’t have this great plan. It just kind of happened. We started homeschooling, and it was very efficient. Kids have to be educated, and as they accelerated, we had to find another option because they outdid me very young,” Mona Lisa Harding said on the Today Show.

The kids agreed that they like the way that they have been raised, though the Today Show displayed a poll suggesting only 7 percent of American parents would want their children to have such an accelerated academic program.

“One teacher has 30 kids on average. We can do better than that. Kids get left behind in a classroom. This is where homeschooling really takes off because those kids are getting extra attention. And who’s more loving than a mom and dad teaching them things?” said Kip Harding.
