At least a dozen women and children who had been kidnapped by Boko Haram militants have been freed.
The women and children were being held captive in Nigeria where Boko Haram has been carrying out suicide bombings.

President Muhammadu Buhari was elected in March with a pledge to annihilate Boko Haram, but more than 1,000 people have been killed since he was elected.

None of the recently freed victims accounted for any of the 219 schoolgirls who were abducted in April of 2014.
It is not yet known from where the recently released victims came or how they are doing.
