Democrats are calling for the man responsible for the undercover Planned Parenthood videos to testify in a hearing that will take place next week.
Charisma News reports that the hearing will investigate the practices of the abortion provider, questioning Planned Parenthood officials.
Democrats allege that it is unfair to require Planned Parenthood officials to testify at the hearing and not to require their accuser to be present. They have penned a letter to Republican House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, demanding that the accuser be present to testify along with the accused.
“It is fundamentally unfair to hold a public hearing to essentially indict Planned Parenthood in the court of public opinion without hearing directly from their accuser, David Daleiden," the letter stated.
David Daleiden is the 26-year-old founder of the Center for Medical Progress and the man behind the undercover videos that claim to show Planned Parenthood officials callously discussing the extraction and sale of fetal tissue.
Planned Parenthood continues to deny that it has done anything wrong. Charisma News reports that the organization has filed lawsuits in several states where its funding was cut.
Democrats requested a response to their letter by Wednesday. The hearing is scheduled to take place on September 29, one day before the end of the federal fiscal year when the government may run out of money. If the bill to defund Planned Parenthood is not passed, some Republicans have threatened to shut down the government.
