Church of God Makes Urgent Call for 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting

A denominational group is calling on Christians to pray for the nation. The Church of God Prayer Ministries is behind the effort, according to Charisma Magazine.

The 4 million member full gospel denomination is calling on Christians to fast and pray for 21 days beginning Jan. 10, 2015.

"The goal is: prayer. United prayer. Fervent prayer. A nation, and the nations, joined in prayer," said Doug Small, head of Church of God Prayer Ministries. "Imagine—voices crying out to God, from California and then Florida, from the heartland to the fringes of the nation," Small added. "Imagine the view from heaven—believers separated by some distance, but not in their hearts, not in their desire for the nation, all uniting around the throne in heaven."

Rather than meeting under one roof, believers are invited to join for virtual prayer through Free Conferencing. The prayer meetings will take place each evening from 10:50-11:10pm EST.

Participants are invited to call 712-432-0075 and enter 367853#. Prayer suggestions for each night's call will be available at praycog.org/21daysprayerfasting.

"Prayer knows no distance—and it knows no time. Answers come before we pray, and yet, in the mystery of God's ways, prayer is necessary,” said Small. “One prays here, another there, in the Spirit, they agree—and heaven acts in accord with their prayer, but on the other side of the earth. Prayer is a mystery, but there is no mystery in this. God is calling his people to pray!"
