California Youth Pastor Faces Murder Charge for Fight

A California youth pastor is facing a murder charges for pushing a man to the ground in a sports bar parking lot, who later died.

Pastor Rob Cox was at Four Kegs pub in Las Vegas with a group of parishioners on a mission trip. The Group had stopped for a late dinner when alleged aggressor Link Ellingson approached Cox.

Witness Kelli Lane said Ellingson addressed Cox as “girlfriend” and used profanity as he came forward aggressively reports CBS News. “Our pastor Rob defended his family and he acted in self-defense and really saved my life,” said Lane.

Ellingson went into a coma the fall and died from hemorrhaging six months later on Dec. 15, 2013. The coroner classified Ellingson’s death as a homicide.

“I believe wholeheartedly that my husband is innocent,” said Jule Cox, Pastor Cox’s wife.

Dan Abrams, ABC News Chief Legal Affairs Anchor said, “This is a self-defense case, and so the crucial questions are going to be: Was the victim actually the aggressor? And the defendant need to do what he did to protect himself?”
