Boko Haram Church Attack Kills 27

Boko Haram is behind another Nigerian church attack, this time setting three churches on fire and killing 27 people.

According to Open Doors, a group of gunmen entered the Christian village of Dille in Borno state on Monday, proceeding to kill dozens of residents. Eyewitnesses said the men were “heavily armed with anti-aircraft guns, rocket propelled launchers and explosives.”

Witnesses also said the militants came from the direction of the Sambisa forest, the area where almost 200 kidnapped schoolgirls are believed to be held in captivity.

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency for Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states in May 2013, calling for increased security. However, Boko Haram continues to strike, leading citizens and other groups to criticize the President’s failure to act.
