Ben Carson: Being Gay is Absolutely a Choice

Potential presidential candidate and famous neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson said in a recent interview that homosexuality is “absolutely” a choice.

According to The Blaze, Carson said that prisons are proof that homosexuality is a choice “because a lot of people who go into prison, go into prison straight — and when they come out, they’re gay.”

Carson continued, “So, did something happen while they were in there? Ask yourself that question.”

Carson apologized for his comments after CNN aired the interview and said he would no longer address gay rights for the duration of his presidential run.

Apologizing to those he may have offended, Carson said, "realized that my choice of language does not reflect fully my heart on gay issues."

"I do not pretend to know how every individual came to their sexual orientation. I regret that my words to express that concept were hurtful and divisive. For that I apologize unreservedly to all that were offended.”

The Republican leader told Sean Hannity that his opinion favoring traditional marriage has not changed, however.

"We have something that's worked just fine for thousands of years to create a nurturing environment for raising children, and I think that's where we ought to leave it," Carson said.
