90-Hour Bible Reading Marathon Set to Take Place at U.S. Capitol

A 90-hour Bible Reading Marathon is set to take place outside the U.S. Capitol from May 1 through May 5.

According to ChristianToday.com, this year’s event will be the twenty-seventh Bible Reading Marathon to take place at the Capitol. It will take place over four consecutive days and include Bible readings from Genesis to Revelation.

Rev. Michael Hall, the event’s co-director, explains the event: "The U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon began in 1990. The event serves to honor the Bible, celebrate religious freedom and unite the diverse branches of Christianity around the Bible.

"[D]uring these five days, hundreds of Bible believers will travel to the West Front of the U.S. Capitol to read a portion of the Bible, to listen and to pray," Hall continues, according to Charisma News.

One hundred English and foreign language translations of the Bible will be available to the readers.

The theme verse for the event is Isaiah 55:11 which says, "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

The event will also feature worship music, led by gospel artists Nathan Kistler and Karen Knight.
